Sunrise Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc will be suspending its diabetic/therapeutic shoe and insole services July 1, 2021.  This is not a decision we take lightly, as we are well-aware of the need for these services in our area. We have attempted to hire an Orthotic/Prosthetic Practitioner Assistant or Pedorthist for several months, and we are currently looking for a bilingual receptionist, but both of these positions remain unfilled. Due to these staffing deficiencies, the amount of documentation required for the provision of diabetic shoes/insoles, the insufficient reimbursement for these services, and the fact that all other O&P companies in the area have discontinued these services, leaving the entire burden on Sunrise P&O, we simply cannot continue to provide diabetic shoes and insoles at this time.

We will finish all current work in process and provide services to patients who have already submitted part of the required paperwork, as long as we receive fully completed paperwork in our office by July 15th, but no new diabetic shoe/insole patients will be accepted at this time. We will still be providing partial foot prostheses and non-diabetic shoes, insoles/foot orthotics, along with all other prosthetic and orthotic services.

We are sorry that we can no longer provide these specific services to you but hope to continue to provide you with any other needed prosthetic or orthotic services.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Sincerely,
Karen Lynch, CPO, CFm
