Our P&O Practitioners have over 40 years of experience in the field and have worked with diverse patient populations. They are some of the most highly-qualified P&O professionals in all of Central Massachusetts, as evidenced by their experience, education, and ABC Certifications, and are capable of devising novel solutions as needed to assure your prosthetic and/or orthotic needs are met.
Karen M. Lynch, CPO, CFm
Ms. Lynch is the Chief Orthotic/Prosthetic Practitioner and President of Sunrise. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UMass in 1989. While an undergraduate, she decided on a career in O&P and took biomechanics electives, including an independent study assisting Kenneth Holt, PT, PhD with research for his dissertation on “Human Locomotion Modeled as a Force-Driven Harmonic Oscillator”. After graduation, she worked as an O&P technician and attended the Newington O&P Practitioner Certification Programs, graduating Valedictorian of her class. Ms. Lynch received her Certification in Orthotics in 1996 and became a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist in 2001. She has had extensive post-certification education, and is able to provide several microprocessor-controlled orthoses and prostheses, myoelectric upper extremity prostheses, the WalkAide functional electrical stimulation device, various scoliosis orthoses, and post-mastectomy products. Ms. Lynch is also a Past President of the New England Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists, an organization devoted to continuing education in O&P.

Amanda M. Harris, CPO, MSPO
Amanda Harris is a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist on staff at Sunrise P&O, working primarily in the Milford office. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island in 2012. After three years working in the pharmaceutical industry, she returned to school to attend the Prosthetics & Orthotics Masters Program at the University of Hartford. Upon graduation, she began working for a local prosthetics and orthotics company, completed her residency, and became a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist. Mrs. Harris has worked as a clinician in the Worcester and Central Massachusetts area for 7 years treating patients and working closely with the local physicians and therapists to design the most appropriate devices to meet their patients’ specific needs. She has attended various American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) meetings all over New England and New Jersey throughout the years, and continues to stay current with advancements in the technology.
